Hip-hop over the past three decades has touched the heart & minds of many people globally. It’s influences are projected across the planet as an art form that not only touches political & social awareness but has also effected the way we walk, talk, dress & think in such a vast world of difference, it has stood out amongst many musical genres as an urban perspective of life & a poetic way of portraying what one experiences & how one feels.
Over the years it’s influences have managed to fuse amongst, reggae, rock, classical, mainstream pop, alternative, electro, jazz & experimental musical platforms. As a strong but yet diverse way of an outlook on life, hip-hop is now a way of life & is here to stay.
For this artist the latter of the last statement is true, yes, Nate is here to stay.
A 27-year-old male who was raised in South East London whose love for the art form reigns pertinent. Nate is the middle child of five siblings whose love for emcing & Dj-ing have been with him from his teenage years. Growing up within his immediate household he listened to various musical genres until the age of 14 when his love for ‘house & garage’ grew immensely. Listening to pirate radio stations, Nate was influenced by artists such as Pay As You Go, Nasty Crew, Roll Deep, Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Durrty Goodz & Heartless Crew.
Progressively making tracks, having clear concepts & a passionate drive, he would eventually release his first mixtape, “Life & Lyrics”. Released on Christmas Day 2010 & has amassed over 1,500 downloads worldwide. “Life & Lyrics” would set the standard for Nate within the music scene and is arguably he’s best mixtape yet. Nate dropped “Building”, his first official music video on December 1st 2010, teaming up with GlobalFaction who have natural talent for capturing authentic visuals for track. Rapping alongside Dark Matter & Cyclonious, they created an anthem for the hip-hop scene. To date Building has over 20,000 views on youtube. On 1st January 2011 Nate teamed up again with GlobalFaction once again to shoot “Just Me”, debatably one of Nate’s best tracks yet, hitting a personal record of 28,000 views.
But still with a focused drive & progression in mind Nate would take it upon himself to make more tracks after having a social & political mindset that would force him to write more & to focus on his next project. On July 1st 2011 Nate released his next creative effort named “Make It Happen”. Another free mixtape with 13 tracks involving personal uplift meant, social community, current affairs & powerful lyrics.
